These mixed-media drawings are a visual reaction to the mechanistic process utilized by the coal extraction industry in southwest Virginia. They are jocularly titled by their support (colored paper courtesy of Color-mates products, a discontinued line) and are therefore intended as an ironical commentary on renewable resource: landscape as a commodified code for aesthetic deliberation and consumption.
